Who is Andrew Yang? His career began in corporate law but Yang quickly caught the startup bug and decided to launch his own company. Like most startups, it didn’t work out. He continued to work in startups, eventually becoming CEO of Manhattan Prep. In 2011, Yang launched Venture For America, a fellowship program that trains workers for startup jobs in economically distressed regions.

His platform: Yang’s marquee policy is universal basic income, a monthly stipend of $1,000 that every American over 18 would receive. Its goal is to head off the coming tide of automation which is projected to displace thousands of jobs.
