During Apple’s “Peek Performance” event, the iPhone SE 3 was unveiled. Here’s what Apple didn’t say during the keynote about the new A15 Bionic CPU, new colors, and the familiar design from the iPhone 8.

No Ceramic Shield or MagSafe support: Last-minute speculations led some to anticipate that the new iPhone SE 3 will include Ceramic Shield and even MagSafe support, however this is not the case. Although Apple claims that new iPhone features a “durable design” and the “toughest glass in a smartphone,” it makes no mention of Ceramic Shield. When compared to the iPhone 13 Pro’s specifications page, the iPhone SE 3 lacks this capability.

The iPhone SE 3 is splash, water, and dust resistant, with an IP67 rating that indicates it can withstand immersion in one meter of water for up to 30 minutes. This feature was already available in the previous generation, hence this phone did not receive the same IP68 classification as the iPhone 13 range.

New iPhone SE 3 features 4GB of RAM

Photographic Styles, Smart HDR 4, but no Cinematic mode or Night mode: the iPhone SE 3 has two of the iPhone 13 line’s camera features: photographic styles and Smart HDR 4. However, Apple left out another feature that requires the A15 Bionic’s power, Cinematic mode, so users won’t be able to blur the background of a movie like they can with the iPhone 13. Furthermore, Night mode, which has been available since the iPhone 11, is absent from this model.

Another disadvantage of the iPhone SE 3 is that it has the same 7MP front-facing camera with a /2.2 aperture as the iPhone SE 2. Although it was expected that this iPhone would feature a 12MP sensor, as the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 do, customers will be left with the 7MP sensor, however they will get a somewhat better experience thanks to Smart HDR 4.

Because the iPhone SE 3 does not support 5G mmWave bands, it will not be able to take advantage of “real 5G.” In fact, it supports the sub-6 GHz band, while the A2595 variant supports 5G NR. Sadly, neither of them can provide gigabit download speeds.

Not only does the iPhone SE lack 5G mmWave, but it also lacks the U1 processor, which was first released with the iPhone 11.

Better battery life: This new iPhone has a little better battery life than its predecessor. It can play video for up to 15 hours (up from 13 hours in the previous edition), stream video for up to 10 hours (up from 8 hours), and play audio for up to 50 hours (against 40 hours in the previous model).
