GeekWire Radio: Food’s here! Our favorite new meal delivery services and apps
For anyone interested in having meals delivered to the home or office, there’s a smorgasbord of new options these days — a cornucopia of services and apps competing to provide your next lunch or dinner.
So which ones should you use?
For the past few months, the GeekWire team has been testing out these services at our team meetings, and this week on the GeekWire radio show, we recap the results with the help of GeekWire reporter Taylor Soper, who led this exercise in culinary journalism — a plum assignment, for sure.
The services we tested included Caviar, GrubHub, Munchery, Postmates, Peachd, Lish, Bitesquad and Eat24. Listen to our thoughts on many of them starting in the second segment of the show.
For more, check out Taylor’s exhaustive review of all the services we tested, and also see our review of Amazon Local food ordering. Listen to the show below or via this MP3 file.
The food delivery conversation starts at the 9:44 mark, following our weekly news roundup, including John’s thoughts on the blockbuster Zillow-Trulia deal.
In this extended podcast version of the show, we also talk about Amgen’s closure of its Seattle waterfront campus, and another eventful week at Microsoft.
App of the Week: Ultratext for iPhone.
Name that Tech Tune: The answer to last week’s challenge was the Samsung Galaxy S5 startup sound. Congrats to our winner, Kevin Jones, who gets a pair of tickets to GeekWire Sounders Day, plus a copy of the book The Amazon Way, by our recent guest John Rossman.
